AWITW 274: Axminster Tools Full Visit

For all 10MW Plus members*

thumbnail photo courtesy of Badger Workshop, thanks Matt!

Hi everyone, hope you’ve had a good week and are having a great weekend; as I mentioned in the members mid-week vid I’m away this weekend doing family stuff so I thought you may like to see the full Axminster visit.

There’s no voiceover on this, just pretty much ‘as it happened’ out of the camera, and as always with these things the audio is challenging, given the nature of the large echoey rooms, levels of background noise etc… I’ve done what I can with noise reduction to make the voices a little clearer, but I do appreciate it’s below usual standards; that’s how it goes sometimes, without turning the tour into a full-blown performance!

I’ve put chapter markers in below so you can skip to segments you may have more interest in, or just to take it in smaller bites as it’s quite long!

00:00 Introduction

01:00 Turning & lathes

06:55 Rider hand planes

11:21 UJK overview

17:04 Axminster store visit

19:00 Laguna tools overview

21:45 Factory tour

26:16 Axminster demo rooms walkaround

It was a good trip and I came away with a ‘bag of swag’ that I’ll be redistributing shortly, along with a few odds and ends from the workshop as I really need to clear some space again!

Anyway, that’s all for this one. Thanks everyone for your support, enjoy the rest pop the weekend and I’ll see you in the midweek.

Peter

Thanks Peter, very interesting, is the manufacturing facility fairly close to the actual store?

Thanks Bill. It’s literally the other side of the street- a 2-minute walk. I suggested that start doing factory tours. 👍
