In this one we go back to before Christmas when I was fitting wood slat panelling to our newly created downstairs WC - all part of the ground floor house renovations that will be coming along in a set of videos shortly.

This was the most fiddly job I’ve done in a while, battling wonky Victorian walls and trying to make the most of the offcuts of panelling we had. Enjoy!

You did a great job of that. Much more difficult than it looks I'm sure and full of small challenges any of which could have made the whole thing look wonky. The mitred return and rebated shelf are the kind of quality touches you'd only get from completing it yourself. Never heard of a "dunny" before but it looks great 😃

Cheers Peter! Dunny is an Aussie term I think - picked that one up from Clive James, way back! Thought it might resonate with the antipodean audience. 😂👍

It was fiddley and took a bit of time but the end result is tremendous! I'm curious, what was the reason you didn't demo the plaster and lathe bit of wall behind the striped panneling?

Thanks Paul! It was a step too far for the lath and plaster wall in the end. Like many things it was a nettle that should have been grasped earlier in the process, and one of many lessons learned for the next one! 😂👍

Fiddly but you do make it all look effortless Peter (with the power of YouTube video editing…)

The bathroom looks lovely. I’m not sure I’d get approval for such a strong colour scheme, but in a small room, it looks great.

Did you keep a piece or two of the MDF panelling just in case you ever have to replace the glass shelf and cut new bevels. I know I would ….

Cheers

Thanks Geoffrey! If only you could edit real life, lol! The bold colours were very much a joint agreement, thankfully - looks great but the wallpaper was a nightmare to hang! And yes, I have a couple of longer strips of the panelling tucked away - just in case! 😂👍

Officially my favourite of your vids. Purely for the phrase “Back in the downstairs dunny” 😀
